Affiliate domain and DNS

Point a subdomain of your site at Supaffi so affiliates have a home on your domain.

Each product's affiliate program lives on a subdomain of your own site, such as affiliates.yourapp.com. Affiliates sign up, log in and see their earnings there, and it serves the tracking script.

Pick a subdomain

On the Subdomain step of setup, Supaffi proposes affiliates.<your domain>, without www. You can change the part before your domain, using letters, numbers and dashes.

  • It must be on your product's own domain. The referral cookie is first-party, so a subdomain elsewhere would not work.
  • Each product needs its own subdomain.

Add the DNS record

  1. Copy the record from setup

The Subdomain step shows the record to add:

    TypeNameValueProxy
    AgoYour server's IP addressOff

The name is relative to your DNS zone. For a site on beta.yourapp.com, it is affiliates.beta.

  2. Add it at your DNS provider

Create an A record with that name and value wherever your domain's DNS is managed.

  3. Wait for the checks

The step checks on its own while you wait. It turns green with Your subdomain points here, then Secured with HTTPS. You can press Continue before that and come back.

If the first row stays on Your DNS does not have this record yet, check the name and the address on the record. New records can take a few minutes to show up.

Cloudflare

When your domain uses Cloudflare nameservers, the step reads Add this record at Cloudflare and an Open Cloudflare button takes you to the zone's DNS records.

Turn the proxy off for this record, so the cloud icon is grey (DNS only), not orange. Supaffi checks that the subdomain points at your server and issues its own HTTPS certificate. Through Cloudflare's proxy, neither works.

HTTPS

You do not need to do anything. The certificate is issued on its own, usually within a minute of the DNS record going green.

Change the subdomain later

Open Settings, edit Subdomain under Product, and press Save. Enter the full hostname, such as affiliates.yourapp.com, with no https:// or path.
